Derived from a Filipino vernacular term which means, piece or portion. The form is a departure of minimalism, leaning towards The Classical Revival of Philippine Art. It features an intricate and original bamboo weave material of La Union, that has evolved through ages of “hand touched tradition”, culture & weaving techniques, and also serves as an essential source of income of an artisan weaving community. A custom Calado (a latticework used to ornament room dividers and to allow air to circulate) adorns the lower part of the divider, reminiscent of the rich classic revival of Philippine wood carvings. The pieces are framed together with an endemic wood species, the Philippine Mahogany. The Pis-sat Divider spotlights Filipino craftsmanship, sustainable livelihood and The Philippines’s wealth in natural resources.
